About Chesterfield Operatic Society

Chesterfield Operatic Society (COS) is one of the oldest amateur musical theatre companies in the country, our first show being The Mikado back in 1905, and we have won many National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) awards over the years.

Who are we?

COS is a really friendly musical theatre society whose members love performing, and we offer a warm welcome to any like-minded people who don’t mind hard work mixed with good fun and are willing to “give it a go!”

What COS means to me
A message from Jon Bennett, Chairman of Chesterfield Operatic Society

After being with the society for more than 20 years I feel that taking on the role of Chairman is an opportunity to reflect on who we are and why we exist as a society. It's about bringing together a group of talented people from the Chesterfield and surrounding area, from all walks of life, who want to perform for their community. It's also about bringing fun and excitement to our performances, but at the same time, a hard-working and professional attitude to everything we do. And it's about allowing our society the freedom to express themselves, to show compassion, commitment, and diversity at all times.

I’m very proud to take on the role of Chairman and lead the society, along with an excellent committee, into the foreseeable future.

Please sign up for information and be the first to know about our upcoming shows. We’d love to see you.
